Ingrid Roeperid000088, Interim Principal, Resource Department

Ingrid Roeper has been at Belleville Christian School for more than 16 years. Her passion for students with exceptionalities began at a very young age. After completing Developmental Services Worker program, she began her career with the local Public School Board. Her desire to see students grow academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually is what brought her to Belleville Christian School. Ingrid was instrumental in developing the Resource Program here at BCS and has played a key role in developing the Student Life culture within the school. Believing that every student is unique and called by God to live with purpose, Ingrid is playing an active role in implementing The Leader In Me at Belleville Christian School.

Ed Petrusma, VP of Governance, Grade 7 & 8 Teacher

Ed Petrusma has been involved with Christian education for over 35 years as a capital campaign manager, teacher, vice-principal and principal. He graduated from Calvin College with a B.A and B.Ed in Christian education and has obtained his Ontario Teacher’s Certificate, Physical Education Specialist, Christian School Teacher’s Certificate and Christian School Principal’s Certificate. As a person who has received a Christ-centred education during his formative years, he personally knows the benefit children and their families can have when they are educated day after day and year after year in a Christian school. As a family man with four adult children, he knows how his children have been positively impacted by Christian education like the one offered at BCS. He believes Christian education coupled with The Leader in Me process at Belleville Christian School is an investment in our young leaders of today.

id000045Karin Mackay, VP of Learning, Resource Department, Grade 3 & 4 Teacher

Karin Mackay has had a passion for teaching since she was ten years old, having been inspired by her fifth grade teacher. Her professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria and a Master of Arts in literacy from Mount Saint Vincent University in Nova Scotia. Karin has had the opportunity to study literacy in Australia and to teach in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, the Netherlands and Ontario in both public and private school settings. She has taught in Christian schools since 2003 and is thrilled to be part of the team at BCS. She loves being able to share her love for Christ with her students and watch them grow in their faith. She is excited to work with an excellent team at BCS developing servant leaders with The Leader in Me process.

Sarah Kuipersid000015, Kindergarten Teacher

Sarah Kuipers has been part of the BCS teaching team since 2014 and considers it an honour to share her wonder at God’s amazing world with the eager learners in Kindergarten. She received her Honours B. A. and Primary/Junior B. Ed. from Redeemer University, and also has her Christian School Teacher’s Certificate. She believes each student is unique, and that this God-given uniqueness should be celebrated! Her passion is creating a community of young learners who wonder and discover together learning not only about the world, but the heart of the One who created it. Sarah is grateful for the opportunity to use the 7 Habits as a tool to enable students to learn, grow, and share their gifts with others in authentic ways.

Emily Russell, Grade 1 & 2 Teacher

Emily Russell joined the team at BCS in 2015. She has enjoyed being a part of the school and being able to teach from a Christian perspective. She is a new graduate from Redeemer University College with a Bachelor of Arts and Science and a Bachelor of Education (P/J). She has enjoyed taking part in The Leader in Me process and seeing its benefits first hand. She believes each child is unique and created for their own special purpose. In pursuing this, she hopes to create an environment in her classroom where students are passionate about learning because it is meaningful to them on a personal level. As an enthusiastic athlete herself, she enjoys teaching physical education in the primary grades. She hopes to instill in students a love for being physically active and to equip them with the fundamental skills they need to be physically active their whole lives.

Trevor Wicklam,id000030 Grade 3 & 4 Teacher, Technical Support

Trevor Wicklam is thrilled to be here at BCS where he sees the students, first and foremost, receive a Christ-centered education. He is also glad to see the students receive the tools that will allow them to be successful leaders through The Leader in Me process. He has always had a passion for teaching young people and seeing them develop into committed followers of God. Prior to teaching, he obtained his B.A. in Religion from Kingswood University and did Youth Ministry in Roblin, Kirkland Lake, and Napanee. Teaching was always his passion and he went back to school to Trent University where he obtained his Honours B.A. in Education, majoring in History and Geography. He loves the atmosphere here at BCS. He loves teaching his students, organizing intermurals for them, and coaching a variety of sports teams at BCS. Most importantly, he has the privilege of investing in his students’ educational journey and to see them mature and grow in their relationship with God.

Bonnie Visser, id000066Grade 5 & 6, French Specialist

Bonnie Visser’s professional qualifications include a B.A., with a major in French and Social Studies, as well as a Christian School Teaching Certificate from Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario. Bonnie attended BCS as a student and is very pleased to now be teaching at the school that played a significant role in shaping her worldview and character. She believes that every subject can draw students into a deeper knowledge of God. As a French specialist, Bonnie has a passion to make French language instruction fun and relevant for students. Teaching at a Christian school also provides her with an opportunity to lead students toward an awareness of God’s unfolding plan for their lives. She can testify that The Leader in Me process teaches students valuable life skills, and sets them on a path of greater independence and increased personal responsibility. Bonnie and her husband David have four children.

Teresa Petrusma,id000087 Music Educator

Teresa Petrusma has a B.A. in Music Education, Level 2 Orff (Orff Schulwerk) Music for Young Children, Music in Early Childhood, and ARCT training in Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. Her teaching experience includes 35 years of Preschool Music, Classroom Teaching (K-6), Teaching Music in the classroom (K-8) and private piano instruction which is currently offered at BCS. Teresa finds it an immense privilege to develop the God-given abilities of children. She is appreciative of The Leader In Me process as a school wide initiative to further this goal. It is with gratitude that she use her own gifts at Belleville Christian School to share who God is, discover His world and enjoy it to serve and praise Him.
